Stretch marks in pregnancy.

As your skin expands to accommodate your growing baby and you gain weight, hormonal changes are triggered in the adrenal glands to produce more hormones called glucocortoids. These hormones cause the elastin fibers and collagen just beneath the skin to tear when the skin is stretched. The tears appear as depressed reddish or brownish

streaks, and can often be seen around the abdomen, buttocks, thighs and breasts during pregnancy. These streaks are called stretch marks. They do fade to silvery fine lines over time after pregnancy and are not painful. However many women feel self conscious about the appearance of stretch marks. It is best to begin preventative treatment as soon as you know you are pregnant.

We at Baby Bump Care recommend Schuessler Tissue Salts Calc Fluor to help reduce the likelihood of stretch marks during pregnancy. Tissue salts are micro doses that are suitable for infants and during pregnancy. They are rapidly absorbed and stimulate the body’s natural healing process.

We also recommend any of the following nutritious oils or balms to effectively and safely moisturise as part of your Baby Bump Care routine
